ReadyMinds is pleased to report that Tracy Capozzoli, Director of Government and Military Relations, was bestowed the Heart to the Mountain Award and the Kit Carson Volunteer Service Award. These awards were presented to her by the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division Commander, Colonel Jeffrey Bannister on behalf of Major General Robert W. Mixon Jr., Commanding General of the 7th Infantry Division. Ms. Capozzoli was awarded these commendations for her selfless volunteerism as the Family Readiness Group Leader for the families and soldiers of Attack Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment during their 2004-2005 deployment in Iraq. Both of these awards are usually reserved for wives of Battalion Commanders and higher in recognition for their service to the families and soldiers of the unit that their husbands are commanding. Because of her exceptional service, Ms. Capozzoli’s awards were elevated to the highest level possible, making her the only Company Commander’s wife in the Brigade to receive such recognition. There are thirty-two Companies in the Brigade. This further demonstrates the level of importance and value of these honors bestowed upon Ms. Capozzoli.
