About CCE
The Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE) is a nonprofit corporate affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. (NBCC), a leader in the professional credentialing field. CCE’s staff has proven success in competency assurance and has extensive knowledge of credentialing, ethics, and assessment.
In 1996, NBCC found itself involved in a growing number of activities that were drawing focus away from certifying counselors. As the Board of Directors evaluated their needs, they became aware of an unanswered demand in many credentialing organizations for management services, educational opportunities, and assessment services. NBCC responded by creating The Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE). CCE operates as a wholly controlled tax-exempt [501©(6)] organization with a focus on credentialing management and education.
CCE’s beginning functional structure was uniquely designed with that specific purpose in mind. Unlike most start-up non-profit organizations, CCE had the opportunity to draw upon NBCC’s existing resources, staff and experience to begin operations. NBCC has over twenty years of success in the area of credentialing, and because of it’s success, NBCC’s Board of Directors and staff have given many years of leadership to the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA). Through it’s involvement, NBCC has gathered a significant body of knowledge in the area of credentialing, ethics, and assessment. CCE uses this information to provide innovative approaches to credentialing management for other nonprofit organizations.
