ReadyMinds Joins with Long Island University in Brooklyn to Offer Online Career Counseling to Graduate Students and Alumni

Brooklyn, N.Y. – An agreement between ReadyMinds, a customized, distance career-counseling service, and Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus will put online career counseling in the hands of students and alumni of the University. "This service is of great assistance to our students and their career planning, especially in the current economic climate," said Stephanie Steinberg, assistant dean for Career Services and Senior Year Advising at the Campus, "The ReadyMinds Program offers convenience and flexibility. Graduate students and alumni who need career counseling services, including exploration, decision-making and self-marketing assistance, can access these services from home, office or school seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day."

She noted that the University's population is diverse - with many non-traditional and older college students juggling their time and energy (e.g., parenthood, full-time work) — so flexibility is particularly important. Distance Counseling is a very useful option for them as it affords access to services that might be difficult to utilize face-to-face because of time and logistical constraints. Students can register for Distance Career Counseling via a special co-branded link to the ReadyMinds site. They can benefit from a series of short telephone conversations to address their career related questions under the ReadyMinds Gold Program. The counseling process is open-ended, with the opportunity for ongoing contact between student and counselor. This process conforms closely to a college career-center model and provides a level of flexibility that busy adults appreciate.

"Long Island University is a highly respected institution, one that ReadyMinds has always been proud to be associated with," said Randy Miller, founder & CEO of ReadyMinds. "We are pleased with our work with the institution to date and look forward to engaging with all students who will be participating in the ReadyMinds Program over the next year."

This counseling serves as an extension of the Services offered by the Career Center at Mount St. Mary’s University and will continue to greatly help the students and alumni with their career counseling needs especially during the current economic crises.

The Brooklyn Campus is distinguished by...
dynamic curricula reflecting the great urban community it serves. Distinctive programs encompass the arts and media, the natural sciences, business, social policy, urban education, the health professions and pharmacy, and include the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, the D.P.T. in Physical Therapy and the Pharm.D. in Pharmacy. A vibrant urban oasis in downtown Brooklyn, this diverse and thriving campus offers academic excellence, personalized attention, small class size and flexible course schedules. In 2006, a $45-million Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center was opened to serve the Campus and the surrounding community. In 2007, the Cyber Café was launched, providing a high-tech hot spot for students and faculty members to meet and eat.
