Distance Credentialed Facilitator (DCF™) On-line Training Program and Credential Welcome to the Distance Credentialed Facilitator (DCF) online course. This course satisfies the training requirement to obtain the DCF credential which is conferred by the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE) an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). We trust that you will find the course to be a beneficial and valuable learning experience. Requirements for Participation In order to participate in this online training and be eligible upon satisfactory completion to apply for the DCF credential, one or more of the following requirements must be satisfied: Be certified in good standing as a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) OR
International applications and related processes will be evaluated on an individual basis. Note: Candidates may enroll in the DCF Course if they possess a Bachelor's Degree. All other DCF requirements must be met within 5 years of completing the course to receive the DCF Credential. Course Information The purpose of this course is to educate and train participants in distance facilitation , which encompasses the use of accepted technology-supported techniques and related resources, knowledge of ethical standards and the application of distance-delivered services. We believe participation in this course will enhance your existing practice of face-to-face (f2f) facilitation. While the DCF Training will use contextual examples that focus on issues related to human development, career/employment and overall effective behavioral functioning, our major focus is on the skills required to deliver facilitation services via distance methodologies. We do not purport to teach core content in these discipline areas. It is assumed that this knowledge is present based on your prior training, education and professional experience. In this course you will find references to the terms counselor and facilitator. We recognize there is a professional distinction between these terms. Counselors have work experience and formal training at the Master's degree level or higher. Facilitators have work experience and formal training in credit and non-credit courses. Counseling is the application of mental health, psychological, or human development principles, through cognitive, affective, behavioral or systemic intervention strategies, that address wellness, personal growth, or career development, as well as pathology. Source –The Practice of Internet Counseling, National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc and Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. – May, 2004 As professional facilitators, we believe that facilitation is the application of accepted helping process methodologies enabling clients to effectively address their life, personal and career issues. During this course you will hear or encounter the terms Distance Career Facilitator or Distance Coach Facilitator. These titles are used with the intention of addressing some of the various specialties practiced by different members of the training group for the purposes of including and recognizing the specialty areas in which they may practice. However, it is critical to remember that the DCF title carries the formal, more generic meaning of Distance Credentialed Facilitator. Life/Career development situations are used frequently throughout this course as examples because facilitators frequently encounter issues with their clients related to the areas of employment and job performance. Specific distance delivery technologies taught through the training, such as Internet supported chat and email or telecommunication, may certainly be applied to a wide variety of facilitation scenarios and client issues (which facilitators may oversee and/or employ when working in the occupational areas referenced above). The Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc (CCE), the organization that confers the Distance Credentialed Facilitator credential, is an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the largest counselor certification body in the world. Any references made to the NBCC or the CCE in the course of the training refer solely to their role as the entity that is conferring this credential and are made at the discretion of ReadyMinds. Please note that all course content and materials related to this course were designed by ReadyMinds. ReadyMinds retains full rights and responsibility for its content. The NBCC has established separate credentialing requirements for counselors who have a Master's degree or higher. The NBCC is referenced on occasion throughout this course especially when counseling practice is addressed to help distinguish between counseling and facilitation. Course Competencies Admission to the DCF course is based upon prior education and training. The DCF Training is designed to enhance your existing capabilities by exposing you to new learning that allows you to harness the powerful forces of technology in order to serve your clients more effectively. During the training modules, you will encounter and work toward mastering the following learning objective areas:
At the conclusion of each module, trainees will be required to pass an assessment. If a trainee does not pass, he or she will be given opportunities to address the needed part of the training and will have an opportunity to retake that area of the assessment. We look forward to your participation and successful completion of this course and your obtaining recognition as a Distance Credentialed Facilitator.
